The movie blockbuster season has begun. I think that I am most excited about the slew of superhero and fantasy movies on the horizon.
I just saw Iron Man, featuring the superbly cast Robert Downey Jr. as the technology super-genius turned self-created hero. I won’t bother to write a review because several other talented writers over at Blogcritics Magazine and elsewhere already did a fine job of it on the day of the movie’s release, but suffice it to say that most critics and movie-goers have given it five stars.
Though I haven’t yet seen the movie, the special effects of the new Speed Racer look to be astonishing. I am absolutely tingling with anticipation for the latest in the Batman series, The Dark Knight, which opens in theaters on July 18, and I will eagerly rush right out to see Hellboy II: The Golden Army when it debuts on July 11. The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton and Liv Tyler premieres on June 13. Prince Caspian, the latest in the Chronicles of Narnia series, opens at midnight tonight, and for you Harrison Ford fans out there, the new Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opens in theaters next week on May 22.
Summer movies are always a thrill, and this season promises to entice. Feel free to chime in with your own opinions and recommendations about this latest string of new hit movies, but no spoilers please.
Iron Man was surprisingly good for me. I really did laugh at some of the line and R.D. played the role excellently.
I used to read the Iron Man comic when I was a kid and I just didn’t see him as how he was portrayed in the film. The film was better!
