My husband took our two daughters to Cape Canaveral, Florida to watch the final launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery. We allowed our second grader to miss two days of school for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
After the launch, I asked the girls what they thought. All they could talk about were the dogs at the viewing area. They listed the breeds and names of the dogs they met. When I asked them what they thought of the space shuttle, their one-word reply was, “Good.” Then they enthusiastically continued telling me about the dogs.
That’s funny! It’s amazing what kids notice and remember, even at a spectacular event such as the Space Shuttle launch. 🙂
