C2E2

No, it’s not the name of a science fiction robot character.  It’s the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, and I’ll be covering it this weekend, April 16-18, 2010.  Some of my favorite authors will be there, including Neil Gaiman and Bill Willingham.

You can click on the C2E2 logo in this post to access the official website for more information.  If there’s anything in particular you’d like to read about related to the event, please feel free to let me know, and I’ll do my best to make it a priority and write about it.

  1. If you have the time, you may want to go to the Jeff Smith spotlight on Saturday. He lives in my city and is the only cartoonist to have an exhibit of his work at the Wexner Center. 🙂

He wrote Bone and is a good example of an independent small press. In the early days, Bone was handled completely by him and his wife until they struck a deal with Scholastic. It is appropriate for children but his new series, Rasl, is not.

Jeff and Neil Gaiman go way back and they often end up at the same events for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Neil wrote the forward to the book accompanying the Wexner Center show. Jeff is also friends with Jill Thompson who I think still lives around Chicago.
