New Year’s Cards

I’m starting a new tradition this year.  I’m sending New Year’s cards instead of Christmas cards.

It’s not just because I was so ridiculously late getting cards done or because when I finally did get around to ordering them, the big industrial printing machine at the store broke just as my cards began to print (which also subsequently screwed up the line of people behind me who were also waiting for their cards).  Then, to make matters worse, I forgot to add a greeting to the card, so now I’ll have to hand write and sign all of them.  That really just makes it more personal though, don’t you think?

I think I just wasn’t meant to get cards out on time this year, so I’m going to embrace my tardiness and unforseen obstacles and just send New Year’s cards instead.  The design on my card this year is fireworks (with family photos) accompanied by the single word “Celebrate” printed across the top.

  1. I think it’s a good idea! It’s very symbolic to reflect on the year and share your hopes for the next one after the Christmas panic! has settled.
