Recently, while my husband was away in Japan and our two young daughters were missing him, the girls asked me to read them one of their favorite books, The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Dave McKean.
When we got to the page where the boy actually traded his father (who was lost in thought while reading his newspaper) for two goldfish, my two-year-old got a little upset, and exclaimed earnestly, “Daddy’s the best!”
My five-year-old replied, “Yeah, I wouldn’t swap my Daddy for…” (and here she paused and gave some serious consideration before continuing) “…anything.”
adorable girl!
i love dave mckean’s art! didn’t know about this collab between 2 of my favs, thanks!

I think I read that book a while ago.
I like it when books make children think.
