My five-year-old daughter and I popped over to San Jose, CA for a quick weekend trip today. It’s a lot warmer here than in Chicago, which made packing difficult. It’s hard to imagine what 70+ degree weather feels like when it’s ten below zero at home.
It’s a nice little respite from the snow, but being back in California, I do realize that I’ve grown attached to the seasons. I like a white winter, and I look forward to the riotous burst of color when the trees and flowers erupt into bloom each spring. I bask in a hot summer, and I appreciate a crisp and colorful autumn.
I’ll indulge in my California weekend, but I’ll also return back home with a smile. I’ve lived in a lot of different cities, and I’ve always tried to fully enjoy each place for the unique qualities that it offers.
