At only 36 books, 2017 was a slow reading year for me. However, it was a quality reading year. It started with Joe Hill’s The Fireman, an enthralling book by one of my favorite authors. It ended with Daniel H. Wilson’s The Clockwork Dynasty. I received a signed edition of The Clockwork Dynasty from Daniel Wilson after meeting him in Guam this summer. I enjoyed his previous bestseller Robopocalypse immensely and was eager to read his latest novel. I’ll start 2018 off with a review to be posted soon.
In addition to the two books mentioned above, another of my favorite books of 2017 was Goblin by Ever Dundas, which was a recommendation from a friend, Lisa Guidarini of the fabulous book blog Bluestalking Journal. If you’re looking for recommendations in literary fiction, Bluestalking Journal is an excellent resource.
In the fantasy genre, I enjoyed Laini Taylor’s Daughter of Smoke & Bone series, as well as the book Caraval by Stephanie Garber. I look forward to Garber’s next book.
